Matthew Rojansky Appointed President and CEO of USRF

The U.S. Russia Foundation is pleased to announce the appointment of Matthew Rojansky as President and Chief Executive Officer. The Chair of USRF’s Board of Directors, Ambassador John Beyrle, stated: “We are excited to bring Matthew Rojansky on as our new CEO. Matt is a well known and respected expert on U.S.-Russia affairs, and we look forward to benefitting from his experience and vision. He will bring new energy and innovative approaches to the Foundation’s mission to strengthen ties between Russia and the United States, with a focus on economics, entrepreneurship, education and the rule of law.”

Rojansky is among the most widely recognized and cited U.S. experts on Russia, and has published works on the history and practice of U.S.-Russia relations, bilateral exchanges, and rule of law.  Prior to joining USRF, he served from 2013 as Director of the Kennan Institute, the premier U.S. center for advanced research on Russia and Eurasia and the oldest and largest regional program within the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars.   Previously, Rojansky was Deputy Director of the Russia and Eurasia Program at the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace, and Executive Director of the Partnership for a Secure America. He has also served as an Embassy Policy Specialist at the U.S. Embassy in Kyiv, Ukraine, a Visiting Scholar in the Research Division at the NATO Defense College, and a Clerk to Judge Charles E. Erdmann on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Armed Forces. He received his B.A. in history from Harvard College, and his J.D. from Stanford Law School.

Commenting on Rojansky’s appointment, USRF Board Director and former Deputy Secretary of State Steve Biegun said, “the U.S.-Russia relationship continues to face severe challenges, and we are delighted to have Matt Rojansky’s vision and leadership as we seek new ways to support productive engagement between the Russian and American people with an eye to the longer term future.”

Rojansky stated: “I am honored to join USRF, whose distinguished board and dedicated team I have long admired. I am truly excited about this opportunity to contribute to its vital mission.”
