Building Connections between the United States and Russia in the Private Sector
Mission & History
The U.S. Russia Foundation was founded in 2008 to strengthen relations between the United States and Russia and to promote the development of the private sector in the Russian Federation. Since then, USRF has supported programs that build Russian innovation, entrepreneurship, education, and scientific expertise.
The Foundation is the legacy organization of The U.S. Russia Investment Fund (TUSRIF), a $329 million 501(c)(3) organization set up pursuant to the Support for East European Democracy Act of 1989. The Foundation, with its presidentially-appointed Board of Directors, is organized as a grant-making private foundation.
The U.S. Russia Foundation welcomes proposals to strengthen partnership and build understanding in:
- Rule of Law and Governance
Laws, institutions, and practices that enable good governance at the local, regional, and national levels
- Economic Enterprise and Entrepreneurship Development
Practices that build the capacity for private entrepreneurship
- Civil Society
Solutions which improve the well-being of communities and citizens
- Russian and American Studies
Russian-American mutual expertise and understanding
USRF encourages proposals that integrate elements across the four areas, and that build multi-organization partnerships which will have long-lasting impact and sustainable funding.
